Saudi customs record 1,260 contraband seizures in one week

Saudi Arabia’s land, sea, and air customs outlets recorded 1,260 seizures of contraband last week, according to the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA). The move is part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and protect society from various types of prohibited items.

The confiscated items included 72 types of narcotics, such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, Captagon pills, and others, as well as 410 types of banned substances.

Customs officials also thwarted 928 cases involving tobacco and its derivatives, in addition to 26 cases related to undeclared cash, and four cases involving weapons and related equipment.

ZATCA reaffirmed its commitment to strict customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports to ensure community safety, working in continuous cooperation with all relevant partners.

The authority also urged the public to help combat smuggling and protect both society and the national economy by reporting violations via the security hotline (1910), email ([email protected]), or the international number (009661910). ZATCA receives reports of smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law in complete confidentiality, and a financial reward is given to the informant if the information is correct.
