King Abdulaziz International Qur’an Competition continues final rounds

The judging panels for boys and girls continued the final rounds of the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur’an Competition for memorization, recitation, and interpretation, organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance. On the fourth day of the competition, the panels listened to the recitations of 42 contestants—26 boys and 16 girls—representing 40 countries, with sessions held in both the morning and evening.

Since the start of the final rounds, the panels have evaluated a total of 148 contestants from 101 countries, reflecting broad international participation and diversity in the competition’s categories and levels of memorization and recitation.

The judging panels comprise a distinguished group of international experts in Qur’anic sciences, recitations, and rules of recitation. Contestants’ performances are rigorously assessed based on criteria including memorization, recitation, tajweed, and quality of delivery, utilizing the ministry’s advanced electronic judging system to ensure accuracy, fairness, transparency, and prompt results.

This year’s competition features 334 contestants from 133 countries, competing in five categories: memorizing the entire Qur’an with the seven canonical readings by Al-Shatibiyyah, both in narration and understanding, with excellence in performance and tajweed; memorizing the entire Qur’an with excellence in performance, tajweed, and interpretation of all Qur’anic vocabulary; memorizing the entire Qur’an with excellence in performance and tajweed; memorizing fifteen consecutive parts with excellence in performance and tajweed; and memorizing five consecutive parts with excellence in performance and tajweed.
