Electrical fault kills mother and four children in Jazan house fire

A mother and her four children died, while the father sustained critical injuries, after a fire broke out in their home in Al-Laqiya village, Samtah governorate, in southern Jazan on Tuesday evening. The blaze was caused by an electrical fault.

According to reports, the fire erupted inside the house, prompting neighbors to intervene and attempt to rescue the family and call the relevant authorities. Despite their efforts, the mother and her children died at the scene.

Jabriel Al-Qubi, spokesperson for the Jazan Health Cluster, said Samtah General Hospital received a report of the incident on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Medical and emergency teams responded immediately and treated the cases according to established protocols.

He added that the hospital received six cases, including one injured person—the father—who suffered cardiac arrest. He was resuscitated and transferred to King Fahad Central Hospital in Jazan for further care, where he remains in critical and unstable condition in intensive care.

The incident resulted in five deaths from asphyxiation: a 37-year-old woman, an 11-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy, a 6-year-old boy, and a one-year-old girl.

The spokesperson confirmed that all official procedures regarding the deceased have been completed in coordination with the relevant authorities. He extended his condolences to the victims’ family and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
