Border guards foil attempt to smuggle 80 kg of khat in Jazan, arrest four Ethiopians

Land patrols from the Border Guard in Al-Daer sector, Jazan region, have arrested four Ethiopian nationals for violating border security regulations after they were caught attempting to smuggle 80 kilograms of the narcotic plant khat.

The Border Guard patrols stated that initial legal procedures were completed against the suspects before they, along with the seized drugs, were handed over to the competent authorities for further action.

Security authorities have renewed their call for citizens and residents to report any information related to drug smuggling or trafficking activities by calling 911 in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, or 999 and 994 in other regions of the Kingdom. Reports can also be made to the General Directorate of Narcotics Control at 995, or via email at [email protected]. Authorities stressed that all reports will be handled with complete confidentiality and without liability for the informant.
