International falcon breeding auction boosts falconry-linked economy

The international falcon breeding auction, organized by the National Center for Falcons at its headquarters in Malham, north of Riyadh, reflects the growth of the economy linked to the falconry sector. The event has become a platform that brings together breeding farms, falconers, and investors, stimulating a wide range of economic activities and supporting services, and enhancing investment opportunities in this national heritage.

The recent expansion of falcon breeding farms has created new opportunities in various fields, including production, veterinary services, transportation, preparation, and marketing. Demand for falcon-related supplies has also increased, while the auction has provided a specialized marketplace that enables farms to reach buyers and falconers both within the Kingdom and internationally.

Ghazi Al-Otaibi, owner of one of the falcon breeding farms, stated that investment in breeding farms is witnessing continuous growth. He noted that perceptions of falcons have evolved in recent years, as they are no longer seen solely as a hobby or tradition, but have become investment assets with economic value, supported by an organized market that connects producers with buyers.

Abdulaziz Al-Sulaiman, from the sales department of a Saudi-Canadian farm, confirmed that the auction has expanded commercial opportunities for breeding farms. He explained that the farm is participating for the first time with 25 falcons and has seen strong sales activity since the auction began, in addition to preparing to offer four distinguished falcons on the auction platform in the coming nights.

The economic impact of the falconry sector extends beyond the breeding and sale of falcons to include veterinary services, falcon supplies, transportation, preparation, training, and marketing. The sector also benefits from modern technologies to monitor production and improve farm efficiency, enhancing the quality and competitiveness of falcons.
