Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Saudi ambassador discuss strengthening cooperation

Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb, head of Al-Azhar, received Saudi Ambassador to Egypt Saleh bin Eid Al-Hussaini on Tuesday at Al-Azhar headquarters in Cairo to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two sides.

During the meeting, Al-Tayeb highlighted the deep historical ties between Al-Azhar and Saudi Arabia, praising the efforts of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in supporting the causes of the Arab and Islamic worlds.

Al-Tayeb added that Al-Azhar is keen to enhance collaboration with Saudi religious and academic institutions to better serve the interests of the Muslim community, wishing the Kingdom continued security and stability, and peace for the region.

For his part, Ambassador Al-Hussaini expressed his pleasure at meeting the Grand Imam, and commended Al-Azhar and Al-Tayeb for their efforts in serving Islam and Muslims and promoting values of brotherhood and global peace. He stressed the importance of the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Al-Azhar, and his country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation in various fields.
