Saudi customs record 1,226 seizures of banned items in one week

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority has announced that Saudi Arabia’s land, sea and air customs points recorded 1,226 seizures of prohibited items in a single week, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and protect society from various banned substances.

The authority stated that the confiscated items included 68 types of narcotics, such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and Captagon pills, along with 424 other categories of prohibited materials.

Customs officials also foiled attempts to smuggle 2,270 units of tobacco and its derivatives, in addition to 27 categories of cash and 16 types of weapons and accessories.

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority affirmed its commitment to maintaining strict customs control over Saudi imports and exports, in cooperation with all relevant agencies, to ensure the safety and security of society.

The authority called on the public to help combat smuggling and protect the national economy by reporting violations via the security hotline (1910), email ([email protected]), or the international number (009661910). It added that all reports are treated with strict confidentiality, and a financial reward is given to informants if the information proves accurate.
