Thunderstorms, hail and strong winds forecast for several Saudi regions Tuesday

The National Center of Meteorology, in its weather report for Tuesday, forecast continued moderate to heavy thunderstorms leading to flash floods, accompanied by hail, across parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah, and Madinah. There is also a chance of rain-bearing thunderclouds forming over parts of Najran.

The center added that strong surface winds raising dust and sand are expected in these regions, as well as in northern parts of the Eastern Province and parts of Tabuk and Riyadh. Fog may also form overnight and during early morning hours along coastal areas of the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea.

The report noted that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to westerly at 15–35 km/h, and southwesterly to northwesterly at 10–30 km/h, increasing to over 50 km/h with thunderclouds. Wave heights will range from half a meter to one and a half meters, reaching over two meters with thunderstorms. Sea conditions will be light to moderate, becoming rough during thunderstorms.

In the Arabian Gulf, surface winds will be southwesterly to southeasterly at 10–25 km/h, shifting to southeasterly to northeasterly at 10–25 km/h. Waves will reach half a meter to one meter, with generally slight sea conditions.
