Umm Al-Qura University wins international AI in education awards in Hong Kong

Umm Al-Qura University has won several awards at the finals of the 2026 International Artificial Intelligence in Education Competition, held in Hong Kong, after 15 teams from Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Cooperation Council countries advanced to the final stage.

According to the university's official account on X, its teams received a number of honors, including awards for innovation in problem discovery, merit, overall performance, excellence, and excellence in educational impact. The university also secured five merit awards and an overall performance award, while two additional teams qualified for the final rounds.

This achievement builds on the university’s role as an international partner and host of the competition’s qualifying stage, which was organized in collaboration with The Education University of Hong Kong (EDUHK) and the Artificial Intelligence Research and Education Alliance (AIREA). Faculty members, students, and innovators from Saudi and GCC universities participated, fostering knowledge exchange and showcasing innovative solutions in educational AI.

The university stated that this success reflects the goals of its 2027 strategic plan to strengthen international partnerships, promote academic and research excellence, support innovation, and enhance student competitiveness, contributing to the knowledge economy and the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
