Kuwait reaffirms support for Saudi Arabia, backs measures to protect sovereignty

Kuwait has welcomed the statement by UN Security Council members condemning missile attacks launched by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia since July 13, as well as attacks on commercial vessels since July 22.

In a statement from its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kuwait expressed full appreciation for the Security Council's emphasis on the need to adhere to international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216. The statement also underscored the importance of respecting the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Yemen, and rejecting actions that threaten regional security and the rights and freedoms of maritime navigation.

The ministry reiterated Kuwait's complete solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures the Kingdom takes to safeguard its sovereignty and security. The ministry also renewed Kuwait's support for Yemen's legitimate government and for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy to achieve peace, security, and stability in Yemen.

It is worth noting that UN Security Council Resolution 2216 imposes strict sanctions, including an arms embargo, asset freezes, and travel bans on individuals undermining Yemen's stability, most notably Houthi leader Abdul Malik Al-Houthi.
