Saudi communications authority launches AI adoption guide for tech firms

The Communications, Space and Technology Commission has launched an awareness guide for the adoption of artificial intelligence by technology companies in Saudi Arabia. The guide aims to support effective and responsible AI adoption, promote reliance on emerging digital technologies, encourage innovative business models, and maximize their benefits. The release coincides with the Cabinet’s decision to designate 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence.

The guide outlines practical steps for integrating AI into internal operations, customer-facing solutions and applications, and AI-powered implementation models, including AI agents. It targets executive leaders, strategy officers, decision-makers at technology firms, as well as technical leaders, product managers, and department heads responsible for turning AI strategies into operational reality.

The guide focuses on two main pillars: the added value of AI in operational and administrative processes within tech companies, which drives innovation and productivity; and the added value of AI in services provided to customers, positioning AI as a core component of products and services to maximize adoption benefits.

It provides actionable steps beginning with an assessment of organizational readiness across five interconnected dimensions: context readiness, data readiness, infrastructure readiness, talent and expertise readiness, and organizational culture readiness. This approach helps identify suitable initiatives, the required scale of expansion, key gaps, and priority areas for improvement.

The guide reflects the role of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission as the regulator of the technology sector in Saudi Arabia and responds to the significant transformation in the tech market, where AI is a fundamental technology with a broad impact on internal operations of tech firms and is expected to play a major role in the solutions and applications offered to the local market.
