The Yemeni government has expressed its full solidarity and unwavering support for Saudi Arabia—its leadership, government, and people—and strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The government described the incident as a dangerous escalation that demonstrates the Houthi militia’s determination to threaten the Kingdom’s security, target civilian infrastructure, and endanger the lives of civilians.

In a statement issued by the Cabinet and reported by the Saba news agency, the government said that targeting airports and civilian facilities constitutes an unacceptable attack on the security and stability of states, and a violation of international laws and norms. The statement added that the attack once again reveals the aggressive nature of the Houthi militia, which continues to expand its threats and undermine security and stability in the region in service of Iran’s agenda and its destabilizing projects.

The statement stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security is inseparable from that of Yemen and the region, and that any attack on Saudi territory or civilian facilities is an assault on the rights of the region’s peoples to security, stability, freedom of movement, and the safety of air navigation. The Yemeni government affirmed that such attacks will not undermine the strong brotherly ties and shared destiny between the two countries, nor Yemen’s steadfast position in confronting terrorism and threats to the Kingdom’s security and sovereignty. Yemen stands with Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes to protect its security, facilities, and sovereignty.

The Yemeni Cabinet further noted that these attacks once again expose the terrorist nature of the Houthi militia, whose actions against Saudi Arabia are an extension of its crimes against Yemenis since its coup against the state. These include shelling cities and residential neighborhoods, planting landmines, kidnapping and torturing civilians, recruiting children, and looting humanitarian aid. The statement emphasized that the militia is merely a tool of Iran’s expansionist project, which uses it to destabilize Yemen and the region and threaten international navigation. Any approach that ignores this reality will not lead to stability.

The Yemeni government reiterated its appreciation for the pivotal role played by Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, in supporting Yemen, its legitimate leadership, and its people in restoring their state and institutions, as well as in strengthening the security and stability of the region.

The government stressed that these attacks will not deter Yemenis from restoring state authority across all Yemeni territory and ending the Houthi coup. It called for a responsible international stance that goes beyond statements of condemnation to practical measures that ensure the protection of civilians and safeguard the security and stability of the region.
