Kuwait condemns Houthi military spokesman's remarks on Saudi Arabia

Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, strongly condemned and denounced statements made by the military spokesman of the Houthi militia, describing the claims against Saudi Arabia as false and including threats targeting the freedom and security of maritime navigation.

The ministry called on the international community to ensure the implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 regarding the rights and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.

The Kuwaiti foreign ministry affirmed that freedom of navigation in international waterways is a right guaranteed by international law, referencing the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The ministry reiterated Kuwait's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures taken to safeguard its security and sovereignty, stressing that the Kingdom's security is an integral part of the security of Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
