US pledges to uphold defense agreement with Saudi Arabia

US Senator Marco Rubio said the United States will fulfill its commitments under the defense agreement with Saudi Arabia.

He added that Washington is closely coordinating with Gulf Cooperation Council countries, noting that the southern passage of the Strait of Hormuz remains open.

Rubio reiterated that the actions of the Houthis in Yemen pose a serious problem, and that all regional countries face threats from Iran's proxies. He emphasized there is consensus that Iran's activities in the region are malign, and there is international support for US sanctions on Iran.
