SDAIA advances regulatory framework for personal data protection

The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) organized a specialized meeting focused on licensing activities and accreditation certificates in the field of personal data protection. The event brought together representatives from the private sector and data service and product providers in the Kingdom, as part of SDAIA’s efforts to strengthen the regulatory environment for personal data protection, enhance partnerships with the private sector, and boost the readiness of specialized companies to participate in the national personal data protection ecosystem.

SDAIA emphasized the importance of developing the regulatory environment for personal data protection, calling on all relevant stakeholders to share their feedback on draft standards guides related to licensing activities and the issuance of accreditation certificates. Feedback can be submitted through the unified electronic platform for public and government consultation, "Istitlaa".

The meeting discussed the roles and responsibilities associated with licensing and accreditation activities, and reviewed the regulatory framework for directions, requirements, and necessary conditions. This aims to enable specialized companies to implement best practices and enhance compliance with the Personal Data Protection Law and its executive regulations.

The event also provided participants with an opportunity to exchange views and insights among experts and private sector representatives, supporting the development of regulatory frameworks and strengthening integration between regulatory bodies and specialized companies, with the goal of achieving a more efficient and sustainable personal data protection system.
