Royal Commission in Yanbu launches awareness campaign on irrigation and greenery

As part of efforts to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation and protecting green spaces, the Royal Commission in Yanbu has launched an awareness campaign to promote the preservation of irrigation systems and landscaping assets.

According to a statement posted on its official account on the X platform, the commission explained that the programmed irrigation networks operate with precision during nighttime hours to deliver specific amounts of water to plants and trees. It noted that tampering with irrigation nozzles or sprinklers, or any unauthorized interference, can disrupt water pressure within the network, causing leaks, wastage, and reduced efficiency in distributing water to other landscaping elements.

The commission added that the effects of such tampering can last for an entire irrigation cycle or several days, potentially leading to plant dehydration, loss of landscaping assets, and a negative impact on the urban and environmental landscape of Yanbu Industrial City.

The commission stressed that maintaining the irrigation system and its components is a shared responsibility, urging community members to cooperate in protecting the system and to report any malfunctions or concerns. This, it said, will help sustain water resources, reduce waste, and preserve the city's greenery.
