Thunderstorms and rain forecast to continue across several Saudi regions Monday

The National Center of Meteorology, in its daily report, forecast continued thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong winds on parts of Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha on Monday, August 24, 2026 (11 Rabi Al-Awwal 1448 AH).

The report added that fog formation is also possible in parts of these regions, as well as in coastal areas of the Eastern Province.

The center further noted that high temperatures are expected to persist in the Eastern Province, with a chance of thunderclouds bringing rain and strong winds to its southern areas, as well as parts of Najran and the highlands of Makkah and Madinah.

Wind and sea conditions

The report stated that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to westerly at speeds of 10–38 km/h, reaching over 50 km/h with the formation of thunderclouds over the southern part of the sea.

Wave heights are expected to range from half a meter to one and a half meters, exceeding two meters with thunderstorms in the southern part, while sea conditions will be slight to moderate, becoming rough with thunderclouds.

In the Arabian Gulf, winds will be northwesterly to westerly at 12–32 km/h in the north, and 10–25 km/h in the central and southern parts, with wave heights from half a meter to one meter and slight sea conditions.
