Arab Bureau of Education concludes regional workshop on education data in Qatar

The regional training workshop on "Strengthening Education Data Systems and Monitoring Sustainable Development Goal 4" concluded on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, in Qatar. The event was organized by the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States and the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, and hosted by Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

Mohammed bin Saud Al-Muqbil, Director General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, emphasized the importance of moving beyond data collection to analyzing and utilizing educational data for planning and decision-making. He also highlighted the need to develop joint Gulf indicators and leverage modern technologies and artificial intelligence.

Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Nuaimi, Undersecretary at Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education, stressed the importance of having accurate, up-to-date, and reliable educational data to support educational policies and decisions.

The workshop covered methodologies for SDG 4 indicators, emerging educational indicators, and mechanisms for using data in benchmarking and evidence-based policymaking, in addition to facilitating the exchange of expertise and best practices among member states.
