Multinational naval defense coalition launched to secure key waterways

Political analyst Dr. Saeed Al-Qadi stated that the multinational naval defense coalition has been formed in response to current challenges, with the goal of securing navigation in the Bab Al-Mandab Strait, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden.

In a phone interview with Al-Ekhbariya, he added that the coalition's meeting also aimed to activate command and control centers and facilitate information sharing, in order to determine the personnel and naval assets that will be deployed at sea to implement these measures.

He noted that these defensive measures are intended to protect maritime routes such as Bab Al-Mandab and ensure freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, as well as the Gulf of Aden. He stressed that the current regional pressure requires the rapid activation of this coalition, which has already begun following the meeting.

These remarks coincide with Saudi Arabia's announcement of the formation of a multinational naval defense coalition under its leadership, with the Kingdom hosting its headquarters. The initiative aims to enhance maritime security, protect international shipping lanes, and counter maritime threats, reflecting a move toward greater international cooperation in this field.

Participants agreed that military planners from countries interested in joining the coalition will continue their work to complete the foundational procedures. This includes finalizing the coalition's charter and reference documents, as well as completing the organizational structure, command and control arrangements, operational mechanisms, and the formation of necessary technical teams and frameworks.
