King Abdulaziz Public Library and National Defense University launch national identity initiative

King Abdulaziz Public Library, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense represented by the National Defense University, organized an introductory meeting and panel discussion for the National Identity Consolidation Project on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. The event brought together representatives from government agencies, academic institutions, research centers, and was attended by Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar, the library's general supervisor.

The project aims to strengthen concepts of national identity, produce reliable knowledge content that reflects national values, and support the creation of sustainable cultural material on Saudi identity.

The panel discussion was moderated by Rear Admiral Salman bin Hussein Al-Harbi, representing the Ministry of Defense, with participation from stakeholders and relevant entities. The session addressed key topics related to national identity, its connection to citizenship and national unity, social and cultural diversity, and the role of national history in shaping and reinforcing identity. It also discussed the roles of various organizations and opportunities for institutional integration in this field.

This meeting marks the first phase of the project, which aims to introduce the initiative, outline its strategic dimensions, engage stakeholders, benefit from their expertise and perspectives, and build opportunities for institutional collaboration to advance the project and its outcomes.

The session saw active engagement from participants, who shared insights and proposals, representing an important step toward the project's completion.
