Saudi Islamic Affairs Ministry signs executive program with Tajikistan's religious committee

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance signed an executive program on Tuesday in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, to implement a previously agreed memorandum of understanding with the Committee on Religious Affairs, Regulation of Traditions, Celebrations and Ceremonies under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The program aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two sides in Islamic affairs and religious outreach.

The ministry was represented at the signing by Deputy Minister Dr. Awad bin Sabti Al-Anzi, while Tajikistan’s side was represented by the First Deputy Chairman of the committee, Tajuddin Abdullazoda. The signing was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Tajikistan Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Shamrani and several officials from both countries.

Main provisions of the executive program

The program includes organizing joint training courses for those working in Islamic affairs, as well as for imams, preachers, and muezzins. It also aims to promote the values of moderation in Islam, highlight its virtues, and address extremism and radicalism, clarifying Islam’s stance on contemporary issues.

Additionally, the program provides for supplying Tajikistan with publications from the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur’an, including translations of its meanings, as well as other ministry publications and books.

The agreement also covers exchanging invitations to participate in Islamic seminars, conferences, and Qur’an memorization, recitation, and interpretation competitions held in both countries. It includes organizing a scholarly meeting at the King Fahd Complex in Madinah to learn about Saudi Arabia’s experience in serving the Holy Qur’an and translating its meanings, as well as holding joint exhibitions to introduce Islam and alternating joint working sessions on mosque construction and maintenance.

Strengthening Islamic cooperation

The signing of the executive program is part of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs’ ongoing efforts to enhance Saudi Arabia’s global presence and Islamic message, strengthen cooperation with Islamic affairs authorities in various countries, and exchange expertise and experiences in areas of mutual interest.
