Thunderstorms, hail and strong winds forecast for several regions Wednesday

The National Center for Meteorology has forecast moderate to heavy thunderstorms on Wednesday, with rainfall likely to cause flash floods and hail showers in parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah regions. Strong winds raising dust and sand are also expected to continue affecting these areas, as well as parts of the Eastern Province, Riyadh, and Madinah.

According to the center, surface winds over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to westerly in the northern and central parts, and southwesterly to northwesterly at 15–35 km/h, reaching over 50 km/h with the formation of thunderclouds in the southern part. Wave heights will range from half a meter to 1.5 meters, exceeding two meters during thunderstorms in the south, with sea conditions varying from slight to moderate, and becoming rough with thunderclouds.

The center added that surface winds over the Arabian Gulf will be northwesterly to northeasterly at 12–30 km/h, shifting in the evening to southeasterly to southwesterly at 5–15 km/h in the northern and central parts. In the southern part, winds will shift from southwesterly to northwesterly, becoming northerly to northeasterly in the evening at 10–25 km/h, reaching up to 50 km/h with thunderstorms. Wave heights will range from half a meter to one meter, exceeding two meters with thunderclouds in the south, and sea conditions will be slight to rough during storms.
