Makkah agreement highlights Saudi Arabia’s religious role, says Sudais

Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, President of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, said the Makkah agreement between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan reflects the Kingdom’s religious standing, global leadership, and its pivotal role—under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman—in promoting security, peace, stability, and strengthening bonds of brotherhood, cooperation, and Islamic solidarity.

According to a statement from the Religious Affairs authority on its X platform, Al-Sudais noted that holding the agreement in Makkah carries deep significance, as the city is the birthplace of revelation, the direction of Muslim prayer, and the spiritual center for Muslims worldwide. He added that Makkah is the source of Islam’s message of unity, harmony, and the reinforcement of brotherhood and cooperation, citing the Quranic verses: “The believers are but brothers” and “Cooperate in righteousness and piety.”

Al-Sudais added that the agreement among the three countries demonstrates the integration of religious objectives with security and national goals, emphasizing that solidarity, cooperation, and unified efforts are essential foundations for safeguarding security, stability, and shared interests. He referenced the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad: “The believer to another believer is like a building whose parts support each other,” and “The example of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body: when any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.”

He explained that the agreement’s focus on enhancing security, peace, and stability embodies Saudi Arabia’s enduring approach to serving Islam and Muslims, consolidating values of brotherhood, solidarity, and cooperation, and affirms the Kingdom’s influential role and leadership in supporting peace and promoting security and stability both regionally and globally.

Al-Sudais prayed for God to protect Saudi Arabia and its leadership, to grant success to the leaders of the three countries for the good of their peoples and nations, and to bless the agreement so that it strengthens the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation and enhances security, peace, and stability in the region and the world.
