New public education law marks major shift in Saudi policy, says expert

Education consultant Abdul Latif Al-Hammadi has said that the new public education law represents a significant leap in Saudi educational legislation, explaining that the system provides greater flexibility for developing regulations and policies. His comments follow the issuance of a royal decree approving the law, which aims to strengthen governance in public education and improve its outcomes.

Speaking to Al-Ekhbariya TV, Al-Hammadi noted that the Council for Education Affairs is a first for Saudi education, emphasizing that the council focuses on governance and the approval of policies and regulations.

He added that the new law gives the private sector a larger role in operating schools and developing the educational environment, as part of efforts to organize the roles of the private and non-profit sectors in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
