Saudi Arabia and seven nations condemn Israel’s rejection of Trump Gaza plan

Eight Arab and Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia, the UAE, Jordan, and Qatar, have issued a joint statement condemning Israel’s declared rejection of the roadmap and former US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the conflict in Gaza, which was endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803.

The statement asserted that Israel bears responsibility for obstructing peace initiatives in Gaza and the Palestinian territories, warning that this rejection threatens international efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace, worsens the suffering of civilians, and undermines prospects for a fair resolution to the Palestinian issue.

The foreign ministers of the eight countries explained that the roadmap, which was accepted by Palestinian factions, resulted from intensive mediation by Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, the United States, and the Peace Council. The plan includes disarmament, withdrawal of Israeli forces, deployment of an international stabilization force, transfer of administrative authority to the National Committee for Gaza Administration, and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

The statement stressed the importance of continued active US engagement to ensure Israel’s commitment to the comprehensive plan and roadmap, holding Israel fully responsible for any deterioration or disruption of efforts to end the war in Gaza.

The ministers reiterated their categorical rejection of any attempt to deny the establishment of a Palestinian state or prevent its realization, affirming that lasting peace can only be achieved through the implementation of the two-state solution and the creation of an independent Palestinian state along 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The ministers called on the Peace Council and all parties to support the implementation of the roadmap and move forward with the second phase of the Trump plan, urging immediate measures to safeguard the comprehensive plan and prevent any obstruction to its execution.
