Saudi foreign minister joins four-party regional talks in Amman

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan participated today in the fifth meeting of the four regional parties, held in Amman, Jordan. He was joined by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad Dr. Badr Abdelatty, and Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan.

During the meeting, Prince Faisal and his counterparts discussed the latest regional developments, the importance of continuing efforts and intensifying joint coordination, and unifying positions on current regional issues.

The ministers stressed the need to work together to ensure the safety of maritime passages in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab Al-Mandab, guaranteeing freedom of navigation, supporting the stability of supply chains and energy markets. They commended Saudi Arabia’s initiative to establish a multinational maritime defense alliance to enhance maritime security, protect international sea lanes, and counter threats to international navigation and trade.

The ministers also discussed efforts to de-escalate tensions and address current security challenges, the need to continue supporting diplomatic solutions, Pakistani-Qatari mediation efforts, and to reinforce respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity to safeguard the region’s security and stability.
