The official gazette, Umm Al-Qura, has published the Cabinet decision No. 260 dated 12/03/1448 AH, approving the unified volunteer work law for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

According to the gazette, the decision was made during a session chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, after reviewing correspondence from the Royal Court No. 84549 dated 23/10/1447 AH regarding the draft unified volunteer work law for GCC countries.

The decision also followed a review of the report prepared by the Council of Economic and Development Affairs No. 1753/46/M dated 17/11/1446 AH, a cable from the Secretariat of the Council of Political and Security Affairs No. 13547 dated 27/8/1447 AH, the Shoura Council decision No. 25/309 dated 19/10/1447 AH, and the recommendation of the Cabinet's General Committee No. 1925 dated 18/2/1448 AH. The following was decided:

First: Approval of the unified volunteer work law for GCC countries in the form attached to the Supreme Council of the GCC's decision at its 44th session held on December 5, 2023.

Second: Article 14 of the law referenced in item (First) will come into effect after completion of the necessary legal procedures.

Third: The National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development will be the competent authority referenced in the provisions of the law mentioned in item (First).

Fourth: The unified law referenced in item (First) will replace the Volunteer Work Law issued by Royal Decree No. M/70 dated 27/5/1441 AH.

A draft royal decree has been prepared regarding items (First) and (Fourth) of this decision, with its text attached.
