Saudi Fund for Development highlights support for Palestinian refugees in Jordan

The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) highlighted the impact of Saudi Arabia’s development support for Palestinian refugees in Jordan during a field visit led by SFD CEO Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Murshid, accompanied by Christian Saunders, acting commissioner-general of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

The tour included a visit to the New Amman Camp Preparatory School project and the Al-Zuhour Health Center project, with the participation of Mohammed Mones, deputy ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Jordan. These initiatives, generously funded by Saudi Arabia through the SFD, are part of the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to support Palestinian refugees and improve their living conditions.

Development efforts in education, health, and infrastructure

The SFD CEO noted that the visit provided an opportunity to observe the impact of projects funded in partnership with UNRWA on the lives of Palestinian refugees, emphasizing that Saudi support has helped strengthen vital infrastructure and provide better opportunities in education, healthcare, and essential services.

For his part, the acting commissioner-general of UNRWA highlighted the ongoing partnership with Saudi Arabia, noting that investments in infrastructure have positively affected the living and working environment for refugees, and contributed to the provision of education, healthcare, and other vital services.

Strengthening development cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Jordan

The SFD, in partnership with UNRWA, has implemented numerous development projects and programs for the Palestinian people across the education, health, infrastructure, and social sectors. During his visit, the SFD CEO also met with Jordan’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zeina Toukan, where both sides discussed SFD-funded development projects and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.
