Mecca agreement a major defense achievement, says analyst

Political analyst Dr. Barakah Al-Hoshan said the Mecca agreement is a significant defense achievement that enhances international peace and security and safeguards regional stability.

Speaking in an interview with Al-Ikhbariya Radio, Al-Hoshan added that the agreement is a milestone involving two of the region’s major powers: Pakistan, a nuclear state, and Turkey, a NATO member.

He noted that the agreement serves the interests of international peace and security in a volatile region plagued by wars, explosions, and militias seeking to destabilize it. He emphasized that this defense cooperation is not directed against any party, but rather aims to protect the security of Saudi Arabia and regional stability. He also pointed out that both Pakistan and Turkey need Saudi support in various fields.

Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan recently announced the signing of a joint defense agreement to strengthen collective deterrence in the event of an attack on any of the three countries. The agreement aims to bolster joint deterrence against any act of aggression, stipulating that an armed attack against any one of the three will be considered an attack against all. It also calls for enhanced defense cooperation among the three nations.
