Saudi national stabbed in London's Mayfair, police launch investigation

A Saudi national was stabbed in the Mayfair district of central London on Thursday evening, September 3. British police have launched an investigation, while the Saudi Embassy in the UK confirmed it is monitoring the citizen's condition and coordinating with relevant authorities.

London police told Al Arabiya that they received a report of a stabbing in Berkeley Square, Mayfair, at 9:38 p.m. on Thursday. Officers arrived at the scene along with London Ambulance Service crews.

Police found a man in his forties with stab wounds. He received first aid at the scene before being taken to hospital, where he remains under treatment. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Police stated that a 58-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon, and attempted robbery. The suspect was also taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Meanwhile, the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in the United Kingdom confirmed it is closely following the condition of the Saudi citizen who was stabbed in Mayfair, coordinating with British authorities, and providing necessary care and support. The embassy will continue to monitor his health until he is discharged from hospital in good health, God willing.

The embassy stressed the importance of expediting the investigation, uncovering all details of the incident, and holding those responsible accountable according to the law. It also emphasized the need for measures to enhance the safety of citizens and visitors in public areas.
