Environment ministry urges water conservation as summer demand rises

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has called on the public to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation and responsible consumption, as temperatures rise and demand for water increases during the summer. The ministry stressed that responsible use of this vital resource helps preserve and develop water supplies, supports sustainable water management, and contributes to water security in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

The ministry explained that water conservation can be achieved through key daily practices, such as promptly repairing and reporting leaks, using water-saving devices, ensuring taps are tightly closed after use, and adopting modern irrigation methods such as drip irrigation, which improve water efficiency and reduce waste.

The ministry added that preserving water resources and reducing consumption is a shared responsibility that requires coordinated efforts from all members of society, as well as government, private, and non-profit sectors. The aim is to raise awareness about optimal water use and encourage responsible consumption habits, thereby supporting water security, maximizing the benefits of natural resources, and ensuring their sustainability for future generations.
