Environment ministry urges camel festival participants to follow animal welfare rules

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has intensified its monitoring activities during its participation in camel festivals to ensure adherence to animal welfare regulations, detect violations related to camels, and take legal action against offenders.

The ministry noted that harming livestock is considered an offense subject to legal accountability under Article 28 of the Agriculture Law. Violators may face imprisonment for up to five years, a fine of up to 10 million riyals (SAR), or both penalties. According to Article 29 of the law, the Public Prosecution is responsible for investigating and prosecuting such cases before the competent court.
