Saudi intelligence chief, Iraqi prime minister discuss security cooperation

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zeidi received Saudi General Intelligence President Khalid bin Ali Al-Humaidan and his accompanying delegation on Friday. Al-Humaidan delivered a message from the Saudi leadership, renewing an invitation for Al-Zeidi to visit Riyadh and discussing ways to strengthen coordination and cooperation on regional security developments.

The meeting addressed ways to enhance security cooperation between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the importance of continued communication between relevant agencies and the exchange of information to address security challenges within legal frameworks.

Al-Zeidi affirmed his government’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Saudi Arabia in a manner that serves the shared interests of both countries and peoples, and supports regional security and stability.

The Iraqi prime minister reiterated his government’s firm stance on protecting Iraq’s sovereignty and the interests of its people, stressing that Iraqi territory will not be used as a base for actions or activities targeting any other country.

He explained that this position is based on Iraq’s constitutional responsibilities and its commitment to the principles of good neighborliness and respect for the sovereignty of fellow and friendly states.

Both sides agreed to continue security coordination and information exchange between the relevant agencies to strengthen their ability to address any security challenges and take appropriate legal measures.

This understanding aims to support the security of both countries, build mutual trust, and help avoid the risks of escalation in the region.
