National Center for Falcons auction tops 45 million riyals in six years

The National Center for Falcons auction for 2026 will begin on October 1 and run until November 30, continuing a track record that has seen sales exceed 45.286 million riyals (SAR) since its launch in 2020. Over this period, 455 falcons have been sold, with hundreds of falconers from across the Kingdom participating.

According to auction statistics over the past six years, sales in 2020 surpassed 10 million riyals for 102 falcons. In 2021, sales reached more than 8.347 million riyals from 95 falcons, with the involvement of 237 falconers.

Annual sales breakdown and falcon offerings

In 2022, sales totaled over 7.125 million riyals for 81 falcons. The number of falcons offered increased to 87 in 2023, generating sales of more than 7.414 million riyals, with 278 falconers taking part.

The 2024 auction recorded the sale of 50 falcons from 30 locations across the Kingdom, with a value close to 6 million riyals, benefiting 165 falconers. In 2025, 40 falcons were sold for 6.4 million riyals, with 119 falconers from 35 locations participating.

Auction organization and participation process

The auction is dedicated to juvenile migratory Peregrine falcons caught within the Kingdom and does not include adult Peregrines or Saker falcons, supporting the sustainability of these species. The National Center for Falcons deploys field teams to receive falconers and facilitate the transport of falcons to the auction site in Malham, north of Riyadh, providing transportation, accommodation, and sales documentation services.

Falcons are presented in a live competitive auction, with the event broadcast on television channels and social media platforms, allowing falcon enthusiasts and industry stakeholders to follow the proceedings.
