Nasser Al-Abdulkarim, Director of Education in Medina, said preparations for the new academic year involve comprehensive plans that include establishing new schools, upgrading facilities, and increasing the number of classrooms to accommodate male and female students.

Speaking in an interview with Al Ekhbariya TV, he added that there is a school transport plan in place. All school transport services have been assigned to Rafid Company, which is affiliated with the Public Investment Fund and has a comprehensive plan for the number of buses and special education programs.

On Sunday, students across the Kingdom return to their classrooms, with students in Makkah, Medina, Jeddah, and Taif joining their peers in other regions as the new academic year begins.

The school year began in 11 regions of the Kingdom last Sunday, on 3 Rabi Al-Awwal 1448 AH, corresponding to August 16, 2026, with students returning to schools in phases according to the schedule for each region.
