Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to visit Egypt on Tuesday

A Saudi diplomatic source said on Monday that Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman will begin an official one-day visit to Egypt on Tuesday, during which he will meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and senior officials.

The source stated that "ensuring freedom of navigation in Bab Al-Mandab to prevent the situation at the Red Sea entrance from becoming a permanent threat to international shipping, protecting the flow of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz and Bab Al-Mandab, and supporting the full liberation of Yemen will top the agenda for both sides. The talks will also cover recent developments in the Middle East, including the situations in Sudan and Somalia, updates on the Palestinian and Syrian arenas, and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields to serve their development priorities and mutual interests."

Discussions will also address ways to confront Iranian attacks and Tehran's proxies targeting Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as well as supporting efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region, according to the source.

In mid-October 2024, Egypt and Saudi Arabia signed the minutes establishing the Saudi-Egyptian Supreme Coordination Council, chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and President El-Sisi, "to serve as an effective platform for strengthening relations between the two countries and advancing them to broader horizons in support of their shared interests."
