Political analyst Dr. Fares Al-Beel outlined the major political shifts and current developments in Yemen, as well as Saudi Arabia’s role in strengthening the country’s internal front.

Speaking in an interview with Al-Ikhbariya Radio, Al-Beel said that Yemen is entering a phase of maturity. In recent years, he explained, there has been confusion between political, military, negotiation, and humanitarian tracks, and the international community’s vision for Yemen was unclear.

He added that this previous situation led to incomplete solutions proposed by the United Nations and mediators, which complicated the Yemeni crisis and gave the Houthi militias greater room to maneuver, defy international norms and legitimacy, and further arm themselves.

Al-Beel noted that the Houthi militias had relied on divisions and disagreements within Yemen. However, the situation has changed since last December with support from Saudi Arabia, which brought together the Yemeni factions, thereby strengthening the internal front and unifying military decisions. The international community now no longer accepts the Houthis as partners in Yemen’s political future.

It is worth noting that in recent days, the Houthi militias have continued to challenge Yemeni legitimacy and the people by targeting vital sites and the port of Mocha, and attempting to undermine Yemen’s economy and interests. The Yemeni army has responded on all fronts.
