Wiqaya launches rabies vaccination campaign for pets in Makkah region

The Makkah branch of the National Center for Prevention of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases (Wiqaya) has launched a campaign to vaccinate pets against rabies in the holy city and the governorates of Jeddah, Taif, and Al-Qunfudhah. The campaign will run until Saturday, July 25, 2026.

The center said the initiative aims to raise awareness about rabies, vaccinate pets, explain how the disease spreads and its symptoms, and outline preventive measures to take in case of animal bites or scratches.

Wiqaya added that the campaign includes distributing educational and guidance materials through media and digital platforms, along with targeted awareness messages for all segments of society. The goal is to improve knowledge of the disease and promote preventive behaviors, while stressing the importance of reporting suspected cases and seeking medical attention if exposed to potential infection.

Vaccination sites and operating hours

The center stated that pet owners and beneficiaries can visit vaccination sites from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Superpets clinics in Al-Shawqiyyah and Al-Rashidiyyah districts in Makkah, Floria Clinic in Al-Nahda district in Jeddah, the Veterinary Care Clinic in the central area of Taif, and Nab' Al-Wadi Clinic in Al-Muzaylif, Al-Qunfudhah governorate.

The center urged pet owners to take advantage of the free vaccination service and bring their animals to the approved sites.

This campaign is part of Wiqaya's ongoing awareness programs to prevent animal diseases, support national efforts to protect human and animal health, and raise public health awareness in the community.
