Saudi statistics authority, King Saud University sign research cooperation deal

As part of efforts to strengthen ties and partnerships with the academic sector, the General Authority for Statistics has signed a memorandum of understanding with King Saud University. The agreement aims to improve the quality of statistical indicators, develop national capabilities, and advance research and innovation projects in the statistics sector.

According to a statement from the authority on its X platform account, the MoU seeks to enhance research and scientific cooperation in applied and theoretical statistics, artificial intelligence, support for research and innovation initiatives, and statistical analysis and its applications across various sectors.

The authority said the agreement also aims to enable academic and research staff to participate in joint projects and programs, provide advisory and training support in relevant fields, and encourage university students and graduates to take part in cooperative training and research projects related to the authority's work. It also seeks to raise statistical awareness among university staff and students through awareness programs, and to support the development of curricula and training programs to better align educational outcomes with labor market needs.

The agreement was signed by Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Dosari, President of the General Authority for Statistics, and Acting President of King Saud University, Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Masmali.
