Egypt voices strong support for Saudi Arabia after drone attacks

Egypt has strongly condemned the drone attacks that targeted Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said these attacks constitute a violation of Saudi Arabia's security and stability, and represent an escalation that threatens security and stability in the region.

Egypt reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for any measures the Kingdom takes to preserve its security and stability. The statement also rejected all acts targeting Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries, calling for an immediate halt to these attacks to safeguard the region's security and stability.

Earlier, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, said that air defenses had intercepted and destroyed several drones in recent hours that attempted to target oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh.

Major General Al-Maliki explained that these terrorist attempts originated from Iraqi territory and were carried out by Iran-backed militias. He stressed Saudi Arabia's legitimate right to defend itself and its resources, and its right to respond at the appropriate time and place.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed Saudi Arabia's strong condemnation of the attacks carried out by drones launched by Iran-backed militias in Iraq. The ministry affirmed the Kingdom's determination to safeguard its security and sovereignty and to deter aggressors, emphasizing its right to respond to sources of aggression. The ministry reiterated the need for the Iraqi government to take all necessary measures to prevent its territory from being used as a launchpad for attacks.
