Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, head of religious affairs at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, addressed students at the start of the new academic year, urging them to work diligently, make the most of their studies, embody the ethics and values of learning, dedicate their intentions to God, respect their teachers, and persevere with patience. He emphasized that knowledge is the foundation of personal development and the key to the advancement of societies and nations.

According to a statement from the Presidency of Religious Affairs, Al-Sudais said that Islam holds knowledge and its seekers in high esteem, considering the pursuit of knowledge among the noblest acts. He cited the Quranic verse: “Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees.” He added that beneficial knowledge, when combined with values, ethics, and good deeds, shapes conscious individuals capable of serving their faith, leadership, nation, and society.

He praised the generous support and ongoing care that education receives in Saudi Arabia from the nation’s leadership, noting the educational system’s commitment to combining religious principles with national identity, tradition with modernity, and building generations proud of their faith, identity, and values. He said these generations are equipped with knowledge and skills to keep pace with modern developments and contribute to shaping the future.

Al-Sudais called on students to recognize their responsibility in seeking knowledge, manage their time wisely, make good use of technology and information resources, avoid distractions, and strive to make the school year a time for excellence, creativity, and achievement.

He concluded by praying for God’s blessings on the nation’s youth, for their success in the academic year, and that they may benefit their religion and country. He also prayed for teachers and educational staff to be rewarded for their dedication to educating future generations and building society.
