Widespread condemnation as Houthis launch missile and drone attacks on Saudi cities

In a new attack targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in the Kingdom, Houthi militants launched ballistic missile and drone strikes on Monday towards Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif, resulting in injuries to 13 civilians and damage to several homes and vehicles.

The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen reported that 13 civilians sustained minor to moderate injuries, with seven residential homes and two vehicles damaged in the Houthi attacks.

Coalition: We will respond with responsibility and resolve

Coalition spokesperson Brigadier General Turki Al-Malki stated that the Houthi militia continues its deliberate and unlawful attacks on civilians and civilian sites in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Malki said the repeated nature of these attacks demonstrates the militia's extremist ideology and intent to escalate by targeting civilians, stressing that the coalition's joint forces command will respond to these attacks with responsibility and firmness to protect the Kingdom's sovereignty, its civilians, and civilian infrastructure.

He explained that the coalition's actions are in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, the principle of self-defense, and international humanitarian law and its customary rules, affirming that all necessary operational measures will be taken to deter the militia and confront its hostile and extremist approach.

Cabinet: Kingdom's security and territorial integrity are inviolable

During its session chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah, the Council of Ministers strongly condemned the ongoing deliberate and unlawful attacks by the Houthi militia on civilian sites and civilians in the Kingdom.

The Cabinet emphasized that the security and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia are fundamental principles that cannot be compromised, reaffirming the Kingdom's legitimate right to defend itself, protect its sovereignty, citizens, residents, and vital interests in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.

GCC: Gulf states united with Saudi Arabia

At the Gulf level, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi strongly condemned the terrorist attacks by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia.

Albudaiwi said that targeting civilians and civilian sites with ballistic missiles and drones represents a dangerous criminal escalation and once again highlights the Houthis' terrorist approach.

He noted that these ongoing attacks are a blatant violation of international law and a direct threat to the Kingdom's security, stability, and the safety of its citizens and residents, reiterating the GCC's full support for all measures Saudi Arabia takes to protect its territory, security, people, and resources.

Bahrain: Flagrant violation of international law

Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the Houthi attacks targeting Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif with ballistic missiles and drones.

The ministry stated that these attacks are a continuation of the militia's pattern of targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, resulting in civilian injuries and material damage to homes and vehicles.

Bahrain's foreign ministry considered these attacks a flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the UN Charter, and relevant Security Council resolutions.

Egypt: National security of both countries is intertwined

Egypt also expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia, describing them as a clear violation of international law and a threat to regional stability and security.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs firmly rejected the continuation of such attacks, warning that their recurrence would only fuel tensions and escalate the situation in the region.

Cairo reaffirmed its full solidarity and unwavering support for Saudi Arabia against any threats, stressing that the national security of both countries is interconnected and inseparable.

European Union condemns attack

The EU Regional Communication and Media Office for the Middle East and North Africa strongly condemned the Houthi attack on Saudi Arabia.

Through its official account on X, the office reiterated the EU's solidarity with its Gulf partners in facing ongoing attacks by Iran-backed groups.

It added that the EU will continue working with regional partners to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and to maintain stability in the Middle East, emphasizing that this serves the interests of all parties.
