Tabuk governor honors 30 winners of model farm award in 35th year

Tabuk Governor Fahd bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz on Monday evening presided over the 35th annual Model Farm Award ceremony, honoring 30 winning farmers from the region. The event was held at Tabuk Agricultural Development Company, with Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Mansour bin Hilal Al-Mushaiti in attendance.

The ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a speech on behalf of the winning farmers delivered by Dr. Ibrahim bin Yusuf Al-Balawi. He expressed the farmers’ gratitude to the governor for his continued support of the agricultural sector and his commitment to local farmers.

Al-Balawi emphasized that the Prince Fahd bin Sultan Model Farm Award is a pioneering initiative supporting agriculture in Tabuk, serving as an incentive for farmers to pursue excellence and innovation. He noted that the award’s impact goes beyond recognizing exemplary farms, as it also promotes a culture of quality, organized work, and transforms farms into successful models of management, production, and investment.

He added that the award strengthens the position of agriculture as a cornerstone of economic and social development, contributes to food security, diversifies income sources, and creates job opportunities. Al-Balawi highlighted that the achievements in the region’s agricultural sector reflect the strong support and attention it receives from the nation’s leadership.

The head of the award’s supervisory committee, Eng. Saad bin Mohammed Al-Sawwat, then addressed the audience, noting that the 35th anniversary marks a new milestone in the award’s journey. Over the years, it has evolved from an initiative recognizing excellence into a driving force for agricultural development in the region, embodying the leadership’s vision for sustainable development and enhanced food security.

He said: “The progress we see today in farming methods, modern technologies, and efficient water resource management would not have been possible without God’s grace and the guidance and support of the governor. His directives have always illuminated the path for farmers and motivated them to strive for excellence. Honoring the winning farmers is not only a celebration of abundant production, but also an appreciation of their noble mission and the efforts they have made to develop their farms and adhere to exemplary agricultural standards, ensuring product quality and environmental safety.”

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the governor presented certificates, cash prizes, and in-kind awards to the winning farmers, congratulating them on their achievement.

In a press statement, the governor said: “We thank God for enabling us to establish this award to encourage agriculture, and to see outstanding farmers from across the region every year. We also appreciate the presence of the Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, as well as the support of the minister and the ministry.” He wished everyone continued success.
