Nadec reports strong ESG performance, advances sustainability goals

The National Agricultural Development Company (Nadec) has announced significant progress in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) indicators, as part of its efforts to enhance operational efficiency, support agricultural sustainability, and contribute to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

According to its 2025 sustainability report released on Sunday, Nadec succeeded in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 11% in a single year through improved operational efficiency and expanded use of clean energy solutions. The company also achieved a 53% waste recycling rate and processed around 150,000 tons of natural fertilizer and organic waste annually, helping improve soil health and support sustainable agricultural production.

In water resource management, Nadec treats over 10,000 cubic meters of water daily at its photobiological treatment plant in Haradh, supporting increased vegetation cover, combating desertification, and contributing to environmental restoration and afforestation. The company also reduced water usage by more than 40% in its olive oil production project by adopting advanced sensing technologies and smart irrigation systems.

The report highlighted Nadec’s continued investment in developing agricultural technologies suited to local climate conditions, implementing smart farming practices that ensure sustainable, year-round production and greater product diversity.

On the social front, the report noted that Saudi women make up 94% of the company’s female workforce, with women representing 32% of total employees. Occupational health and safety management systems cover all staff, with zero recorded cases of non-compliance. Nadec also continues to implement community initiatives aimed at supporting development and creating positive social impact.

Regarding governance and quality, the report stated that all Nadec production operations are 100% certified by internationally recognized food safety standards. The company has established a dedicated ESG and sustainability committee to coordinate initiatives across departments and business sites. Nadec also achieved 100% traceability and sustainability verification for raw materials in its meat and dairy supply chains, with no recorded privacy complaints or data breaches.

The 2025 ESG sustainability report was prepared in accordance with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, reflecting Nadec’s commitment to transparency, stakeholder engagement, and disclosure of its environmental, social, and governance performance.
