Saudi Arabia and Zimbabwe have signed an agreement to establish diplomatic relations as the two countries; aim to strengthen bilateral relations.
The agreement was signed here by Saudi Arabia's permanent representative to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah Bin Yahya Al-Muallami and representative of Zimbabwe; to the UN Frederick Musewa Makamura Shava.
Speaking on the occasion, the two ambassadors emphasized that the agreement reflects the keenness of governments of both countries in order to strengthen relations and expand horizons of cooperation between them and to support issues of security and peace in the world based on the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961
They also expressed hope that the agreement will lead to the consolidation of fruitful cooperation bonds in various fields.
The agreement comes; after the recent visit of Saudi Arabia's Minister of State for African Countries Affairs Ahmed Kattan to Zimbabwe.
Kattan visited the African country last month to explore cooperation and investment opportunities.
After a meeting with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa; the Saudi minister had announced that the two countries will soon sign an agreement to establish diplomatic relations.
