Saudi Arabia, represented by King Abdulaziz & His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, (MAWHIBA), participated in the Intel ISEF 2019 exhibition for the 13rd consecutive year. The winners were: Abdullah Al-Sannan and Dima Al-Mulhim, ranked fourth in environmental engineering, Wid Al-Sa'doun, ranked fourth in chemical energy, Haya Al-Tuwaijri, ranked third in environmental engineering, and Shawq Madani, ranked third in environmental engineering.
The Saudi team participating in this year's Intel ISEF competition won three special awards: Shawq Madani, who won a scholarship from the University of Arizona, Wid Al-Sa'doun, who won a special award from United Technologies, and Noura Al-Dosari, who won a special award from the US space agency (NASA).
The Secretary-General of the MAWHIBAFoundation, Dr. Saud Al-Mutahmi, thanked King Salman, Crown Prince, DeputyPrime Minister, and Minister of Defense Prince for their generous patronage andcontinuous support to talented and creative people, and their continuousguidance on the need to invest in minds and develop intellectual capital, andprepare qualified human cadres to participate in achieving the vision of SaudiArabia 2030.
Al-Mutahmi said: "The talented are thedriving force and the powerful engine to therenaissance of Saudi Arabia and its sustainable development. MAWHIBAcontributes to this by focusing on the preparation of qualified nationaltalent, which can invest learning, and transform innovation into creativity andprojects that provide job opportunities, by applying the knowledge and skillsof the talented in various aspects of the national economy."
Al-Mutahmi praised, the sponsorship ofBasic Industries Corporation (SABIC) to the Saudi team participating inthe Intel ISEF 2019, stressing the importance of the strategic partnershipbetween SABIC and MAWHIBA forthe benefit of Saudi Arabia and its talents to contribute to realizing thevision of Saudi Arabia 2030 and the national transformation program 2020 throughthe qualification of creative and distinctive human cadres and investment inthe capital of Saudi Arabia of human resources.
He alsocommends the role of SABIC as a leading national company insupporting scientific initiatives and training of future leaders, as well as itssupport for MAWHIBA andits role in the successes and achievements of the Foundation during the pastyears. He congratulated the students, their parents, their families, teachers andschools for this success underlining what MAWHIBA andthe Saudi Ministry of Education are doing to help outstanding and promisingstudents to develop their creativity in a systematic and highly effectivemanner through engaging and participating in such leading internationalexhibitions.
During the Intel ISF 2019 exhibition, MAWHIBA presented special prizes for the 10thyear in a row, totaling 14 prizes worth $99,000, awarded to projects in thefourth industrial revolution, in the machine learning in chemistry orenvironmental applications, in the machine in applications of bioengineering,and robot innovations, as well as smart solutions in cybersecurity.
This is the 13rd year of the Saudi participation in Intel ISEF, the largest scientific exhibition of competition in the field of pre-university scientific research, attracting nearly 1,800 participants from more than 80 countries around the world.
Saudi Arabia participated in the Intel ISEF 2019 competition with a team of 20 students, who presented 20 scientific projects, up two projects from the previous year, in several scientific fields. Saudi Arabia, along with students, was represented by a number of employees of the Ministry of Education, MAWHIBA, a number of arbitrators and members of the Scientific Committee, as well as parents of students.
