Saudi Arabia emerged the topper among 200 countries in the world in terms of regional resilience with regard to COVID-19, according to a research report.

The Kingdom ranked 17th among the safest countries in the world for coronavirus, according to the report prepared by Deep Knowledge Group, a Hong Kong-based consortium of companies and nonprofits owned by Deep Knowledge Ventures.

Switzerland is the topper as the safest country in the world right now for the pandemic. The regional assessment report is based on 130 quantitative and qualitative parameters and over 11,400 data points in categories like quarantine efficiency, monitoring and detection, health readiness, and government efficiency.

Initially, countries that could react quickly to crises and had high levels of emergency preparedness ranked highest. Now countries with resilient economies are ranking higher.

Saudi Arabia is among the countries of the first category in terms of levels of health safety and effectiveness of the prevention and care systems in confronting the pandemic. The Kingdom came above most of the big powers, including the G20 countries. Among the Arab countries, only Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates found a place in the first category.

The report showed that the Kingdom ranked seventh at the level of emergency preparedness, 14th in quarantine efficiency, 17th in health safety and effectiveness of prevention and care, 19th in the monitoring and detection of cases, and 20th at the level of government efficiency in risk management and healthcare readiness.
