Citizen’s Account outlines when married women can register as primary beneficiaries

Saudi Arabia’s Citizen’s Account program has clarified that married women are eligible to register as primary beneficiaries in specific circumstances, provided they submit the required supporting documents.

According to a statement posted on the program’s official X account, married women may register as primary beneficiaries if they are married to a non-Saudi, if the head of the household is imprisoned, has lost legal capacity, or if the husband is absent.

The Citizen’s Account program added that if none of these conditions apply, the woman will be registered as a dependent under the head of the household.

The clarification came in response to an inquiry from a follower who said she had been abandoned for 10 years, and that her husband receives Citizen’s Account payments in her name and uses her name with various authorities. She also noted that a court ruling had denied her alimony following a disobedience lawsuit filed by her husband.
