Heavy rain and extreme heat forecast across Saudi Arabia on Sunday

The National Center for Meteorology has issued its weather forecast for Sunday, 3-3-1448 (corresponding to the Gregorian calendar), predicting continued moderate to heavy thunderstorms that may cause flash floods, accompanied by hail and strong winds, over parts of Jazan and Asir. Lighter to moderate rainfall is expected in parts of Najran, Al-Baha, and the southern highlands of the Makkah region.

Sunday weather conditions

Temperatures will remain hot to extremely hot in the Eastern Province and parts of Riyadh, Qassim, and the Northern Borders. Strong winds raising dust and sand will affect these areas, as well as parts of Madinah and Makkah, potentially reducing horizontal visibility to near zero along some coastal areas, with effects extending to the coastal road to Jazan.

For the Red Sea, northwesterly to westerly surface winds will be active at 15-30 km/h in the northern part, 20-45 km/h in the central part, and southwesterly to northwesterly at 15-45 km/h—reaching up to 55 km/h with thunderclouds—in the southern part.

Wave heights will range from half a meter to one and a half meters in the north, and from one and a half to two and a half meters in the central and southern sections, exceeding two and a half meters during thunderstorms in the southern part.
