Thunderstorms and strong winds expected across Saudi Arabia Sunday

Weather conditions across Saudi Arabia on Sunday, corresponding to 9-4-1448 in the Hijri calendar, are expected to bring continued chances of moderate to heavy thunderstorms, potentially causing flash floods and hail showers over parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah, with lighter to moderate rainfall likely in parts of Madinah.

Strong surface winds stirring dust and sand are also forecast for these regions and parts of Riyadh. Fog formation is expected overnight and during early morning hours along coastal areas of Makkah and the Eastern Province.

In the Red Sea, northwesterly to northerly surface winds of 20–43 km/h are expected in the northern part, and 20–45 km/h in the central part. The southern part will see southwesterly to northwesterly winds at 15–30 km/h, possibly exceeding 50 km/h during thunderstorms.

Wave heights will range from one to two meters in the north, one to two and a half meters in the central section, and from half a meter to one and a half meters—potentially exceeding two meters—during thunderstorms in the south.
